Introducing Public Comment

Updated: Oct 12, 2020

San Francisco is at an inflection point, and the need for public engagement with the critical issues facing our City has never been greater.

That's why we launched Public Comment, a new local news source dedicated to San Francisco's economy, policy and politics.

With thousands out of work, businesses shuttered, and no end date in sight to the COVID-19 pandemic, the decisions San Francisco makes now will shape the lives of our residents -- opportunities, challenges, and day-to-day experiences -- for years to come.

At Public Comment, our mission is to promote dialogue through original, fact-based news and analysis on the key questions and debates that will shape the City's future.

We believe you shouldn’t need years of insider knowledge to understand how San Francisco works -- and doesn’t work. We'll center our reporting in provable facts and data, and present the information in a way anyone can digest.

In an era when established news sources are dismissed as “fake,” and skewed opinion is presented as fact, Public Comment’s goal is to cultivate trust in local news and bring thoughtful discussion to the debate -- all while keeping our readers’ busy lives in mind.

We hope you'll subscribe and follow our work. Read more about our mission here, get in touch with us here.
